Jayapal Statement on Amtrak Cascades 501 Derailment
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal released the following statement in response to the Amtrak Cascades 501 derailment near DuPont, Washington.
“The news of the devastating train derailment outside of Dupont this morning is horrifying. My heart goes out to the victims, their friends and family, and everyone impacted by this tragedy.
“The results of the investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board will be critical in making sense of this deadly accident. We must ensure that the board and the local authorities have all the resources needed for thorough review and recovery efforts.
“I am deeply grateful for our first responders on the ground, and I will continue to closely monitor the situation as it develops. I urge anyone with friends and family who may be impacted by this tragedy to contact Amtrak immediately.”
