Jayapal Statement on Extension of Humanitarian Parole for Ukrainians
WASHINGTON – Representative Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement, issued a statement following the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) announcement that they would extend parole for Ukrainian nationals:
“I am pleased that the administration has decided to implement this common-sense solution to protect the status of all Ukrainians who sought safety within our borders. I have been advocating for the administration to ensure they protect the Ukrainians who came to the United States between the eligibility date for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and the start date of Unite for Ukraine.
“No individual who has fled Putin’s brutal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine should have to worry about their immigration status. I applaud the Administration for taking today’s important action heeding calls of countless advocates for this community. I will also continue to push for the redesignation of TPS for Ukrainians who have been forced to flee their homes and seek refuge in the United States.”
