Jayapal Calls For Investigations of Boebert, Brooks, and Gosar for Their Involvement in the Deadly Attack on the Capitol
“I urge the House Committee on Ethics and the Office of Congressional Ethics to thoroughly investigate Representatives Boebert, Brooks, and Gosar’s conduct, and refer any appropriate findings to the Department of Justice.”
WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) called on the House Committee on Ethics and the Office of Congressional Ethics to launch investigations into U.S. Representatives Lauren Boebert (CO-03), Mo Brooks (AL-05), and Paul Gosar (AZ-04) for their involvement in instigating and aiding the deadly attack at the Capitol that took place on January 6.
“It is critical for the functioning of Congress — and therefore the functioning of our democracy — that this investigation is conducted,” wrote Congresswoman Jayapal. “I urge the House Committee on Ethics and the Office of Congressional Ethics to thoroughly investigate Representatives Boebert, Brooks, and Gosar’s conduct, and refer any appropriate findings to the Department of Justice.”
The letters — written to House Committee on Ethics Chairman Theodore Deutch, House Committee on Ethics Ranking Member Jackie Walorski, Office of Congressional Ethics Chairman David Skaggs, and Office of Congressional Ethics Co-Chairman Paul Vinovich — outline how the three Republicans played active roles in pursuing a disinformation campaign, encouraging the insurrection, and falsely insisting that the 2020 election had been stolen. The letters also urge the Committee to investigate whether the lawmakers’ conduct violated other applicable standards, provisions, or federal law statutes.
