Rep. Jayapal Denounces President Trump for Executive Orders on Dakota Access and Keystone XL Pipelines

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal issued the following statement on Tuesday after President Trump signed executive orders to advance the Dakota Access and Keystone XL pipelines:

“President Trump appears to be on a fast track to destroying our environment and along with it the future of our children. By moving forward with the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, the administration is not only going against the will of millions of people across the country, but infringing upon the sovereign rights of the indigenous tribes in the Dakotas who led the historic fight against DAPL.”

“There are no ‘alternative facts’ to climate science. Last year was the hottest year in recorded history. We have a moral imperative to justly transition our economy from fossil fuels to renewable energy, providing sustainable jobs to our communities as we do so.”
