WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal released the following statement on the passage of the GOP’s politically-driven resolution concerning Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE):
Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), Rep. Yvette D. Clarke (D-NY), and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) led 83 members of Congress in sending a letter to Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and Secretary Mike Pompeo urging them to redesignate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somalia and extend the program for eighteen months. Secretary Nielsen has until July 19th to decide whether to extend or terminate TPS for Somalia, with the program currently set to expire on September 17, 2018.
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representatives Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) , Mark Pocan (WI-02) and Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) today introduced the Establishing a Humane Immigration Enforcement System Act. The legislation would convene a commission of experts to provide a roadmap for Congress to implement a humane immigration enforcement system that upholds the dignity of all individuals, which includes terminating the U.S.

SEATTLE – Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, member of the House Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement after returning to the Federal Detention Center in SeaTac, Washington to speak to more than one hundred women and 26 men still held there, following an initial visit on June 9, when she was the first member of Congress to speak with women who had been separated from their children:
